19th century church candle holder

Ref: 1709220.

During the 19th-century the Dutch religious landscape changes. Within the Reformed Church separate groups occur as well as there is a return of the Catholic religion. Because of these new directions, there is a need for new church buildings and interiors. This candle holder is most likely made in the south of the Netherlands or in Belgium where companies created objects for church interiors. The number at the back is a catalogue number. It is unknown in which church this candle has been used, its origin makes it likely to guess a Northern Dutch heritage. This beautiful candle holder still has the original paint and despite some minor damages (one floret is missing at the center candle and the side arms cannot be adjusted anymore) it still is a charming piece.
