Rob de Haan was born in Hilversum in 1943 and gained fame with his first exhibition in Loosdrecht in 1971. He works in the tradition of the Hague School. Rob is an avid sailor, a lover of water. Dutch nature is central to his work, often on large canvases in hard green, yellow colours. The vastness of the landscape and the low horizon are characteristic of his early work. This canvas (second half 20th century) is special because of the light, the evening sun seems to radiate from the work in a beautiful warm pastel glow.
This canvas comes with a short biography of Stolker; the former shop for porcelain, cutlery, crystal and art objects in Enschede (closed in 2019). The previous owner of this work bought it there in 2004, where it was also framed at the time.
Dimensions: 70.5 and 50.5 (canvas), 85 by 65.5 (frame).
