Vintage is a collective term for products that fall within a certain style period. These products are at least 25 years old and no more than 100 years old.
A beautiful opportunity to take a glimpse into the history of school furniture. Around the year 1900, schoolbooks and notebooks were introduced, and children learned to write with ink and a dip pen. A compartment for an inkwell in the desk was convenient to prevent accidents with ink bottles. School desks from that time also had a storage compartment for supplies, which later became a flap under which books and notebooks were kept. The dip pen (and ink) was used less frequently after the 1940s. In the early 1950s, for example, the Bic ballpoint pen was introduced.
I estimate that this set was made between 1940 and 1960. Among the photos, you’ll also find two pictures of my mother, one from 1957 and one from 1963, when she was 5 and 11 years old.
The desk is 66 cm high, 60.2 cm wide, and 41 cm deep.
