‘West German Pottery’

This term is a collective name for ceramics made in West Germany in the period 1949-1990. There were dozens of manufacturers at the time. The characteristic on the bottom, ‘W GERMANY’, refers to the factory of Alois Scheurich. Scheurich founded his company in 1927, which became the largest exporter of pottery in West Germany between 1950 and 1980. On the bottom of this vase are also numbers: ‘523-18’. The first number is the type number and the second indicates the height: 18 centimeters. This vase is completely undamaged and dates copy from the 1960s / 1970s.
