Zenith Gouda | Cora

This platter was made in the Zenith ‘plateel’ factory in Gouda around 1930. Plateel is a type of ceramic. The factory was founded in the second half of the 18th century and initially focused on the production of pipes. When this did not yield much any more in the early 20th century, the great-grandchildren of the original entrepreneurs chose to concentrate on making decorative pottery. The factory closed its doors in 1984.

The shape, the type of the dish is indicated by the number 696, CORA is the design, the line of the set, after which the name of the factory is mentioned: Zenith Gouda. One can speculate about PB; perhaps it indicates the designer. The plate is in excellent condition. The diameter is 26.5 cm and the bowl is 5 cm high. In addition to plates, the CORA line also included other types of earthenware, a complete set is unknown to me.
