Cabinet

This gem was once a large sideboard. It was made in Germany in the 1930s and was part of an identical duo. The family from whom I bought the cabinet bought the set in 1972 from a farmer in Mettingen. The sideboards were in bad shape. The paterfamilias, who was a woodworker, has restored one of the two copies to its full glory. This cabinet is a beautiful leftover of the other piece.

So originally a sideboard, a piece of furniture with a high top section in which porcelain and glassware was stored and a bottom section with drawers and a tray, it now has more of the functionality of a cabinet. A smaller piece of furniture with drawers for tableware, food and small household items. The cabinet has been given a new top and a good cleaning, and the locks have been replaced.

Height: 105, width: 100.5, depth: 43.5 cm.
