This Windsor farmhouse armchair bears the stamp WmW (second picture). This stamp presumably refers to ‘Windsor made Wycombe’. The back of this chair is known as as a ‘slat back’. During the 19th century, a massive chair industry emerged around High Wycombe (50 km east of London). The exact dating of this individual chair is uncertain; given the condition and aging I’d guess early twentieth century.
Restored by taking all the pieces apart, abrading them, putting them back together and revarnishing the complete chair. All pieces are original.
Height of the seat: 44.5 cm, widest point of the chair: 59.5 cm, total height: 113.5 cm.
